Nice. I wish I had come extra money to go there about now and look at the deer and elk outside Boise towards Idaho City. I've hunted unit 39 twice now. I'm 1-2 there.

That looks more like the National Elk Refuge in Jackson....but having never seen Boise area maybe it is.

They had this pic up at the BLM booth at the RMEF Camp show this weekend asking if anyone knew where this was. I said I saw the pic and said Boise. The BLM guy said this pic is going around and has at least three locations listed.

I work in Boise and have seen this pic for some time. It's true we have had about 1200 elk winter just East of town, between here and Mt. Home, ID which is where these bulls are supposed to be. I don't think these bulls where here though. This is a general area and to see tht many big bulls together is unlikely. I know those foothills pretty well and no where do I know a spot that looks like that, though that country is basically a big sage flat with foothills to the East so ??? A post I saw made it pretty clear it was out of East Montana.

Looks like the Mallad river valley on the way to Pocatello especially given that bench where I-15 would be in the background....but, then again there are probably a 1000+ places in the west that look like that!

Like I said before that is the national elk refuge in Jackson, WY. I drive by it every day and see all those big bulls. They like to be close to the road and make all the hunters look at them.
