Booked my first hunt at Hillside Hog Haven with Bob Larson (owner/guide). Man-o-man am I stoked for this hunt. I have been wanting to hunt pigs for 10 years and never got around to it. If anyone here has hunted this area and can offer any tips, I would appreciate it. Bob has been very helpful (via phone), but was wondering if any Hillside veterans out there could help out.

thanks,
Ron.

Thanks for the welcome. It is a 4000 acre ranch in northern Sonoma county between Healdsburg and the coast. It runs about $400 free stay in a cabin and a evening and morning hunt. should be fun. it is scheduled for April 10th.

Good luck on the hunt and that's a good price too. Be sure to take and post some pictures for us.

Hook,
Were'nt you the guy that hunted with Frank Morasci a while back and posted the pics with the trap in the background?  I have hunted with Frank many times and think he's great and would support him and his ethics any day.  I can't explain the trap either but  know exactly where you took that picture and have seen the trap.  I know it is not used for the pigs he hunts as they could not be any wilder.  There is an interesting thread in the Hog Hunting Forum on http://www.huntinfo.com.  Click on talk forums and check it out.  It sounds like this guy may be referring to you and trying to stir the pot.  May be worth a look.

SDHNTR,
Yes that was me, I hunted with Frank several times now and I will vouch for his ethics also.
I think this guy is trying to stir up controversy in his post. I don't know why, but I am not concerned. He appparently does'nt have any first hand knowledge of Franks operation.

These stories seem to get blown out of proportion everytime it passes from one person to another.

I've seen the pigs there and they are NOT domestic in any stretch of the emagination.

Just want to add a third vote for Frank Morosci.  I hunted with a while back, got a nice very wild sow.  We started out with taking a stand in the mornings, and when that didn't pan out hunted them just about every way there is, scoot and shoot, dogs in the thick brush, and spot and stalk on a boar Frank spotted sleeping in a cave across a canyon.  Everyone got their pig, and all were fair chase.  I plan on booking another hunt with Frank this spring.

rwlittle, my only suggestion for your hunt is to use a good bullet that won't come unglued like a Fail Safe or Nostler Partition.  And have a blast.
