Bow hunting season dates set for Hidden Valley
8/17/07
Frankfort, Kentucky - The Kentucky National Guard's Hidden Valley Training Area will be open to the public for archery and crossbow deer hunting from Oct. 15, 2007 through Jan. 21, 2008. The area will close to the public due to military training activities on Friday, Nov. 2, through Sunday, Nov. 4.
The 542-acre property, located north of Clay City at the Powell-Clark County line, includes forested hillsides and approximately 150 acres of open land. The Kentucky National Guard primarily uses the property for troop training exercises.
Hidden Valley first opened to the public for archery and crossbow hunting in 2005 through an agreement between the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and the Kentucky National Guard. Because this year's agreement was not signed until late summer, the Hidden Valley property does not appear in this year's state hunting and trapping guide.
No ATVs, camping or horseback riding is allowed on the area. The property is located off Hidden Valley Road, approximately one mile from the intersection with KY 15.
For maps and other information about the property, visit the website of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources at fw.ky.gov and search under the words "Hidden Valley."
