That video is awesome...Beautiful country, lots of game....The only thing that would make the video better is seeing an arrow go sailing right through that big fella..Of course, if it were Kirk, you would have had to run that sucker off cause that is not a good bull for a first elk:)

GREAT VIDEO!!!

You nailed it ! I saw plenty of spikes around there. If ole' A.S. killed that thing right out of the chute, he would be ruined for elk. I know we can call him in a few rag bulls to kill. But let the big guy live for me !!! We have some unfinished business. I guess you can say, it is now personal.

Wow is right! You guys have certainly perfected a backcountry DIY style hunt. Very impressive. And, to tag two great bulls is absolutely outstanding. Your photo documentation is incredible. Have't watched the video yet. Congrats to you guys for putting it together.

Shay, that was a great read and awesome photos, brother! Hope I get a chance to see the video sometime.

It's a drag about the magazine, but at least it allowed us on JHO to get this look at some of your content fresh and hot out of the hills!

Well done again!

You know what speck, the magazine was so much fun to put together, it allowed myself and my close hunting buddies to showcase the style of hunting that we like, for the animals that we like to hunt. And it was fun. However, the time commitment was overwhelming for both Wil and myself. Both having full time jobs, trying to sell the magazine, write for it, produce it, lay it out, print it, and finally distribute it, was requiring more hours than there are in a day. Plus still trying to find the time to go out and hunt. Man, it was tough. But no regrets on my part. I'm thankful for the experience, and I've learned a ton about the publication business, as well as the outdoor industry.

Great story. I'm sitting here with a smile. I can smell the fire and hear the bulls yelling. It doesn't get any better than that.

Again Shay, great layout of this post. I know how hard the two of you work and how productice both of you guys are when it comes to laying the smack down on critters. Can't wait til season rolls around next year. I feel kinda lost right now with nothing to hunt. Keep up the great work and we'll be seeing each other real soon. Bring that video down for new years so we can play it for everyone that will be here...

Thanks, Shay.

I got a link in the email yesterday (or day before?) and got to see the whole thing. It's every bit as awesome as it sounded! That was a heck of a bull... and to have him so close!!!

Heck, maybe I could have even got an arrow into that one.
