I know I'm opening a whole can of worms here but I'm new to archery and was wondering what everyone's opinion is on the best broadhead for Wild pig.
I shoot a kodiak titan 32 70#'s

I use Muzzy 100 grain 3 blade, its what I took the hog in my avatar with. Tough head for sure and did some damage. I know everyone says Muzzy fly like crap, but I spent some time tuning my bow last year and my Muzzy fly just like my field points. I use Slick Trick as well.

I like the toughness of the Muzzys. They also fly well for me, though they didn't at first. I've only punched sub-200 lb pigs so far, but I'm confident with them and await the chance to put one into a big boy!
The last pig I got was a 140 lb sow, quartered towards me at 20 yards. The Muzzy blasted through the shoulder blade and lodged inside the spinal column. Had to use an axe to get it out.
I've used mechs, but they all take too much babysitting, too finicky.

I use the Rage 2-blade. Unbelievable wound channel. They fly like my field points and really do a nasty job on hogs.

I'll tell you what NOT to use... G5 Tekan. Stuck a boar with one a couple weeks ago at 21 yards right behind the shoulder and got very little penetration. Every other broadhead I've shot pigs with have worked well, including the following: Rage 2", Rocky Mountain Ironheads, Rocket Steelheads, Rocket Hammerheads, Muzzy 3 blade, Cabela's Laser Supreme's, NAP Thunderheads, and Magnus Stingers.

I like using openers on everything but big boars. Usually I keep 2 mechanicals in my quiver for regular pigs and 2 small razor sharp fixed blades for thick boars. Right now my go-to fixed blade is the Rocky Mountain Ironhead. They are pretty wicked.

Old school Magnus 2-blade. Single, fixed carbon-steel blade construction. No chance for mechanical failure. These little guys are good for piercing the armor plate........

i have taken one shot at a pig. the pig was probably in the 150# (just a guess) from about 3 yards. it was sleeping and the shot was quartering away. the rage 2 blade had about 4-6" of penetration and the pig ran for about 1 mile before making it into some brush. IMO i would NOT use a mechanical for pigs, JMO.

i now have been using muzzy and slicks. i have not had a chance to shoot at one yet, but i am confidant that it will penetrate WAY better than that 2 blade did.

only shot deer with a bow, muzzy 3 blade and thunderheads have worked well. i here alot of great stuff about the slick tricks but i could not get them to fly stright out of my bow. with the muzzy three blades and thunder head three blades i could line the blades up with my vaines tune them and all was well. never tried the rage.

Shuttle T's fly straight as an arrow. Very sharp, simple, non-vented so theres no whistling in the air, and are solid construction.

Magnus stinger 4 blades. For all game animals especially pigs. I've made my fair share of bad shots and had bought into the whole mechanical broad-head marketing. I'll tell you this, a shoulder shot with a mechanical at any yardage is almost a guaranteed lost animal. The magnus stinger is yet to let me down. The buzz cuts and straight blades both work great and won't cost you that much.

There's a lot of very good broadheads out there - the trick is to find one that flies true, for you. As always, shot placement is the most important thing, and if shot where it's supposed to go, almost any BH will be lethal. Having said that, SlickTrick is my BH of choice and I'm partial to the ST 125 magnum. Good luck.

Gee; that's really useful. Thanks.

No problem. Glad I could help out.
Would it be better if i said "shoot them all and pick which one works for you".
We all know whats gonna happen when someone asks, "which is the best broadhead?"
Any broadhead will kill and animal. A field tip would kill an animal just the same. Shoot your bow well and the animal will die. All broadheads fly well these days.

There, I just said exactly what everyone else has been trying to say and I did it one two sentences.

Is that helpful enough?

If I'm not mistaken that would be illegal. Don't we have to use a broad head that cannot pass through a hole smaller than 7/8" for the taking of big game and pigs.

Also I prefer the Shuttle T. Shot a pig last year on a hill below me at 45 yards and the arrow broke his back and front leg on a clean pass through.

I was being sarcastic about the field points. But thats two for SHUTTLE T'S.
