i'm a montec shooter first, then slick trick 100 magnum second guy. tuning a bow gets both to fly great. here are my montecs in action. first time i was at 30, then i shot two more standing by the car ranging the target at 40. i called it a day after that.

but neither target was rooting and snorting at me, so i didnt have "buck fever" :)

+1 for slick tricks and or shuttle T locks. Funny the G5 Tekan was mentioned earlier. I bought several packs and sent them all back, completely dull out of the box.

I was watching a popular TV show the other day and a proud G5 T3 sponsor. One of the guys shot a buck that traveled 2000 yards and was shot by another hunter. Both shots were within an inch of each other. They didn't dwell on it but that broadhead failed for some reason. Deer don't travel that far with a shot like that unless something was very wrong.

Magnus stinger 4 blades. For all game animals especially pigs. I've made my fair share of bad shots and had bought into the whole mechanical broad-head marketing. I'll tell you this, a shoulder shot with a mechanical at any yardage is almost a guaranteed lost animal. The magnus stinger is yet to let me down. The buzz cuts and straight blades both work great and won't cost you that much.

Couldnt have said it better!

Will the Magnus Stinger Buzzcuts work with a shoulder shot on a big hog? I'm asking, because I was taught that the only shot on a big boar is rear quartering. Do you get good penetration? I've heard good things about them and I like the largest wound channel possible; especially on hogs. I use the Rage 2-Blade, and it has provided passthrough penetration on several hogs. Also with a HUGE wound track.

This is why I put weight tubes in all my arrows. Still, the problem with shooting through armor plate is the lack of a good blood trail. Your correct that quartering away is best, but with a sturdy, small broadhead and an extra heavy arrow a perpendicular shot will get the job done. The Magnus may not be the best choice, not only because of its size but also the thickness. It takes a lot of umph to push that thing.

I use Blackstumps or Tusker Spirits. Both get great penetration and put the pigs down hard.

I can't remember exactly what weight they are right now, but right in the 540 grain range, broadhead included. You should hear them hit a deer with a 2" expandable...
