I am looking at getting broadheads. I have an older PSE compound tested at 54lbs. I am shooting beman white box arrows w/100gr field point with 2'' vanes. I was thinking a fixed blade, besides one more blade what's the difference in 3 or 4 blades.I am looking at the 3 blade muzzy's 100gr.
any advice and info would help.

I like the 3 bladefixed heads, 3 blades 3 fletchings. I was shooting the G5 Montects but I switch this year to Solid Broadheads. I shot the 4 blade muzzy and I could never get consistent grouping. I shoot the Deer Crossing Archery Hunters with blazers and the solid broadheads. Talk to your buddies and see if they have extras. I know my one buddy was stoked when I got my Solids this year. He will get all my montects.

U will get 100 different recommendations And a 100 different opinions but it all comes down to trial and error sometimes to find the right successful combo for arrow and broadhead set up. I have used both mechanicals and solids and now I just use solids my self N.A.P. HELLRAZZORS they are a good solid 3 blade and blacked out, one thing I noticed when I bowhunting with an arrow knocked with a bright shinny broadhead is when the sun would shine on it would bling like a diamond ring and a good way to get an animal unwanted attention at the wrong time so thats why I went with a black broadhead, for me these are the little details that can blow hunt.
But Muzzy 3 blades are classic and many archers have been very successful for years with them. 4 blades I imagine would fly a little more erratic then a 3 blade but I have no experience with 4 blade broadheads. Mechs are ok but then u have to invest into a new quiver for mech heads. Now Muzzys can't be that bad Fred Eichler married one.......lol.....tra

I've heard bad things about the muzzys with the trocar tip. I personally use slicktrick magnums for fixed, and G5 T3's for expandables. Both perform very well for me.

Wacem broadheads have consistently shot the best out of my bow. I am currently shooting the exit 4 blade. Great flying broadhead.

I agree with TRA. I have shot the muzzy 3 blade for a long time they have shot well for me so no reason to replace. There we so many broad heads out there to choose from

Ambush 1 it seems like there is a slight confusion in this statement I belive unless I am misinterpreting it, u said " I was shooting the G5 Montecs but I switched this year to Solid Broadheads ". The G5 Montecs are a 3 blade solid stainless steel head....tra

I shot by deer last year with the 2" Grim Reapers, and OMG! I could put a base ball in the exit hole.

Thanks Beastmode for the explanation.
Yeh i used to shoot grim reapers which are awesome and really fly as good as your field tips. I just wanted to go back to a solid head. I still have reapers for turkeys because u can shoot those with the blades open too and do have a large cut span.......tra

I also shoot slick trick mag @100gr. I'd recommend you pick a few and try them and go with the one that shoots the best for you.

I'm another for the muzzy m x 3 100 gr... have never had a problem, also what I like is replacement blades, I target with broadheads switch to new blades and viola new broadhead and had no problems with the tip. On another note how do you guys tune your broadheads. I tune opposite of veins, not sure but I remember hearing the spin is controlled quicker, in other words when tuning I'll have two veins on the table and one blade...make sence?

I'd been practicing a lot with the Grim Reaper practice heads. And, while they do fly well in the direction you point them at... they must have more air drag in flight or something because when I then switched back over to the BlackOut Toxik Broadheads... They would hit like 8 inches higher at the same 45yds distance with same sight pin held on same point on the target. Also tried a G5 Montec head and it was similar to the BlackOut Toxik. So I decided to get more of the G5's. Although now.. after reading TRA mention the advantage of the black coating for not spooking game I'm doing a lil bit of a face-palm.
