Since my Wyoming antelope hunt fell through I'm looking for a somewhat last minute replacement hunt. I'm hoping for a semi-guided (show me where they are and leave me alone) California pig hunt. Bryson's Hesperia Resort looks like the kind of set up we are looking for, but I haven't been able to find any recent reviews so I'm wondering if they are suffering from the drought like so many other places.

Has anyone been there recently? How's the hunting? Is there a better place we should look into? The hunt will be mid-october.

Thanks!

Chris

Big_C, no one has posted any reports or stories from BrysonHR for years hear on JHO I don't think it's got it going on like it did years ago.
I would get ahold of Erik one of our JHO forum who runs a real nice hog hunt operation a lot of people have been successful with him with group hunts, very fair rate and nice acomadation.
His hunting operation was called cottonwood hunting but now it's www.smithadobe.com located in Madera, Ca.
U can use the search key on here for ( cottonwood hunting ) to review past post from JHO members who have hunted with Erik. Hope this helps and have a great day!....,,,,tra

Thanks for the advice, Roman Archer. Unfortunately there are only 2 of us and $1K each just isn't possible.

$1,000.00 is a lot of money to me. Yes, I'm willing to spend that to go out of state for a week's worth of hunting. I'm just not willing to spend that for 2 days in state. Especially since what I'm looking for is not so much a guided hunt as some land with a good amount of hogs and someone familiar with the area to point me in the right direction.

Paying $1K for a filthy pig that don't even belong in the state is ridiculous. Why in the hell anyone would pay that is beyond me.

As soon as I have some time off I'm going to Tom Willoughby to get a pig.

Mr. is right, if you have the time, energy and effort, there are wild hogs on public land - just some gas $. Eoats is also right, if you're gonna go with a guide, Tom Willoughby should be on your short list.

One last thing, although this might not work for you, there are some awesome out-of-state hunts (TX. and OK. come to mind) that are very cost-effective, and a really good time. PM if you're interested and I can forward you some very reliable information.
