Returned yesterday afternoon from a last minute "check" to see if the bulls are talking or not, and if so, are they responding to coaxing from our calls.
In short: Yes.
In the past four years the first week of season has been quiet (zero bugles); the second starts the chatter; and the third a sexual frenzy.
It seems things are kicking off at least a week early with a bull coming into our cow call (and bugle) at 1045 in the morning.
"Wheels up" next Tuesday.
Seems all the cats sacrificed to the Elk Gods this summer paid off!
