well once again I turn here for help. while hunting in utah my dad ran into some old aquaintences who we dont hunt with anymore due to different ethics. Well he started bragging to my dad about how he was a alternate and got a elk tag then pulled out the pics of the tule elk he said that he got this year near clear lake. Know I know there are some private ranches up there on can hunt and i'm not sure of the seasons they have on those ranches but he made it sound like he was drawn and so I ask did I miss something because I cant seem to find a elk season open. can the dfg release names of those drawn to check? just woundering I wouldnt rule out poaching by this individual or bs on where he shot this elk

Brut,

Owens Valley and Grizzly Island Tule Elk seasons started around the middle of August. Most of the others don't open until September or later.

Dunno that it helps.

The only public hunt near Clear Lake is the Cache Creek hunt which isn't until Oct. There could be PLM/ranch tags in that area and those would likely be good from mid-Aug through mid-Sept. Season's vary on those--usually during the rut. Those are pretty spendy.
