absoulutly fantastic,he and tom willoughby have been hunting and guiding pig hunts
longer than anybody around..{to the new folks, dont take offense, gotta start somewhere}these guys grew up together and are good friends with great hunting
outfitts. you will no doubt have a great hunt with many, many oppurtunitys at
quality hogs..surprised nobody has ponied up and gave a shout out..hmmm,
anyways, give a report of your sucess if you choose to hunt with mr.schmidt! and take in everything you see and hear, the knowledge of that dude is priceless..
and tell him "the hatchet" says hello!!!!!

booked

I booked a hunt in June with him. He is a man a few words but I can tell he knows what he is doing that's why I went with his outfit. I have a new G2 Contender in 30-30win by MGM that I'm itchin' to use but I get the impression that he would rather I used my Mod 70 .270win. Either way I'm excited to try a new guide and see some new country. I will tell him you said hi next time I talk to him. Thank you for you reply!

trog, nessen is definetly a man of few words..when you've been around as long as he has and have the type of experience and knowledge he does,i think you run out of
words..its all second nature.. you will have a great hunt my friend, and remember
pay attention to what he does and says..it will help you in your future hog hunts!!
guaranteed!!

Tom willoughby and I assume other guides dont like the 30-30 because it isnt flat shooting or powerful enough compared to 270 etc , that said Ive seen most hogs killed with tommy as a guide shot at under 100 yds .

30-30

I have wanted to hunt with a a Contender since I was 16. I'm 41. I have only hunted hogs since bout '05 but I have yet to shoot one over 50 yards or seen any of my buddy's shoot one over 80. I wont bring it if I'm not fully confident but then again I'm not fully confident in my .270 since the lead ban, it HATES copper. 4"-6" groups @ 100yrds is not OK. I haven't tried the new Win E-tips yet though. Thanks guys!

Troggy, if you have time before the hunt, definitely try the ETips.

Let us know how they work for you, if you do.

My rifle did about the same with the solid copper, 4" groups. I switched to e-tips and down to less than 1".
