Does anyone here know what the requirements are to get a hunting license for in Californina for a foriegn national?

My guess is that it is like getting one if your an out of state hunter. You will need proof that you have completed a hunter safety program or an old hunting license. It should be no different than anyother nonresident license.

No problem. You are either applying as a resident or a non residnet depending on where you live. I have also found that bring guns into the US can be easier than bring them into your home country. When I moved here from Canada I brought 4 guns, no issues at all. I have doubts whether I can take them back with me if I move home!
Legal Resident Aliens may own guns and can hunt.
You are allowed to buy and a gun here too.
If you have lived in California for 6 Months or more you are considered a resident of the State.
For a hunting license you will need to complete the safety course and then you can buy a resident license.
If you are here on a passport then I don't know but DFG can probably tell you what you need.
As with dealing with any goobermint agency if you want to hunt this year start the process now.

I have heard of people walking in to sporting good stores and buying a hutning license without proof of a former hunting license or some just sign a declaration that they lost it last year. Boom, they walk out with a hunting license. Last year in D11 I heard one guy tell his friend to this same thing and he would get one. He knew because thats what he and his buddies had done. There were about 6 guys tthere. If they are doing it then how many more have done it or are going to do it this year?

Penalties are pretty light for the perpetrators, though. Should be a lot stiffer, but what're you gonna do?
When I bought my first CA license after only living here for a month, I didn't even realize they'd sold me a resident license until we were out in the field, hunting. Of course, I became a full-time resident, but they didn't know that and didn't check. I didn't give it a second thought when I paid for it, as it was still a lot more than I ever paid back in North Carolina. Should I have been penalized?
