Ca. Tag result recieved

Well ,
I just pulled my mail out of my box and lo and behold , the coveted F&G envelope. IM NOT KIDDING
I tore an end of it open and went and had a seat in the recliner. I smelled it ( I really did! To the delight of my daughters) It had the slight aroma of an X zone tag , but somehow.... not quite .

The lack of stiffness in the envelope told me it wasnt a tag. My heart sank a bit . But why , I asked myself , why els would I get something in the mail from the licence and revenue branch ? hmmmm.
One more sniff and I slowly slid it out of the envelope.........


Sorry , just got called to dinner.........My stomach thinks my throats been cut so I better go .

It was chicken fried steak tonight with mashed potatoes, gravy and fresh green beans. ( thank you daughter Chloe'

Ok .....so I pulled it out of the envelope and find that I am the 1st alterate for the 2nd period Grizzly Island cow hunt . Chances are slim to get it but things could be worse I guess.

best of luck to you wiggler! long time no post from you here, but I've been the same way lately, always checking the board, but not posting as often as I used to in the old days. Hope you luck out and get that tag eventually.

I hated getting that same letter last year...1st alternate for the new ML Lake Park Reservoir bull elk hunt. It just drags out your hunting plans that much longer, gives you false hope, etc. It killed me to know I was that close. CDFG just loves to tease us I guess.

Needless to say, I didn't get it.

I'm a bit cranky cause I struck out in New Mexico and haven't heard from Cali yet.

I had leftover mac and cheese with my toddler (wife's out). So see, you're already luckier than me.

I figure if I drew a tag, DFG would have zapped my credit card by now.
