I finally figured out how to do this. This was maybe the 20th picture I had ever taken on my digital camera and I'm pretty sure it was in auto mode. I still haven't used it much or played around with the settings yet.

Zach, I may have you show me some ins and outs with my camera someday...I think you have/had the same one....Olympus C740

Very nicely done. Even got some mtns in the far background.

Do you know what kind of cactus this is?

Thanks! I have no clue what kind of cactus it is but I do know they stick to Golden Retrievers really well. Years ago I was quail hunting in a desert that had these same cactus and my dogs long haired tail got too close to one. It picked up one of the young bulbs on the plant and while still wagging his tail...stuck it to his side. About an hour later I had all the quills pulled out of him. That was the last time we did that.

Jumping Cholla I belive had one go through a flip flop and into my heal when I was about six years old

Matt, great job on the first "photo" post. That little cam is a pretty good one. Takes some pretty good macros too. I still have it, although it is officially my wifes camera now.
