California Elk Hunting

So I have been looking at loder posts talking about points and puting in for a tag etc. I understand how that is done. My question is in order to hunt in Ca do to have to put in for a dag and hope you get drawn. Are the no open hunts in Ca? Also when can you submit you ap for the 2010 Elk hunting season. I am sorry is this is such a lame question.:toast-yellow:

All elk hunts in CA are draw. No over-the-counter elk tags here. Plenty of deer tags available OTC though.

The good thing is, if you do draw an elk tag in CA, its the only place in the world for Tule elk, so thats special in its own right.

The tag qoutas come out in late April-early May (both deer and elk). The draw application deadline date is usually the first week in June. This year it was 2 June for both deer and elk.

With only minor changes, the hunt locations and qoutas will be the same as the previous years, so you have time to do your homework in advance.
