California Marble Mountains Muzzleloader/Archery Either Sex Elk

California draw results are in and I drew an alternate spot for the Marble Mountains Muzzleloader/Archery Either Sex Elk tag. With only 5 tags awarded, i realize it will be a long shot getting to me as an alternate. I plan on doing lots of scouting but was wondering if anyone has had this tag in the last couple years. I am not asking for any secret spots or honey holes, but just a good starting point for my scouting trips since it will be a several hour drive for just to scout. I will have a B tag so I will be hunting in the area during the deer season to get a better idea as well. Any advice on starting points would be appreciated.

I drew it in 2012 and killed a nice bull. I have also helped people each year since to kill a bull. My brother drew it this year. I can give you some pointers. What area are you wanting to hunt if you are lucky enough to get a tag? Where are you driving from?

If lucky enough I would like to hunt a bull but I will take a cow to fill the freezer toward the end of the season. Driving from Colusa County.

If you are interested in looking up towards the Klamath river area I grew up in those neck of the woods I can give you an area or two that has elk. But there is plenty of areas in the unit that are closer to you. So if you do plan on going as far as siskiyou county let me know.
