Man you guys got it made out there on the west coast.Beaches with bikini's that don't quit, cheap beer,Hollyweird, and everyone's from out of town. But the one thing you haven't got is decent ice fishing. No,this doesn't mean a cooler full of ice & beer on the bank of the nearest creek! To go ice fishing you need temperatures of well below freezing, yes this means below 32°F*L*.You also need snow blowing so ferociously that you can't see your hand infront of your face. Then you need to run your 4 wheeler about 6 miles out on the ice, about a foot of ice on the lake is preferrable. Then while your fingers still have feeling in them, drill a hole in the ice.An ice auger works best for this as your standard 3/8's drill will not drill a hole big enough to draw a fish through!A greater day can't be spent then freezing your butt off catching 16 lb lake trout or 8-9 lb whitefish. If you really want to experience this, don't call me! But if this sounds like fun,it's even better when you have a fish hut out there on the ice to stay out of the weather in.

Keep them bikini's full guys!

Thats just the problem. There are no bikinis around when you are ice fishing.              Fubar

Grumpy, I grew up in Michigan so I know about ice fishing. The normal freezing, the extraordinary freezing after falling through, losing your ice shanty cause you waited too long to pull it off of the ice, people losing their cars through the ice, etc.......
Can't say I miss those parts of it. But, I do have some fond memories of catching large blue gills and specks. And of both catching and spearing northern pike.
But, I think I will just stick with this combination of bikinis and warm weather fishing that we have here. When I feel too warm, I will remeber those good/bad old days to cool me off......
