Who has used Calls to hunt pigs, mouth or electronic?

I have a Primo's hog call. It is a mouth call. It kinda sounds like a buck grunt tube and looks like one too. I have tried it on hogs that I have already spotted to see their reaction. It seemed to spark a minor interest but that may have been because of the distance or the noise scared them. Cant say if they work for sure or not but I am still playing with it to find out. I willlet you know if I get other results.

I doubt if hog call works.

I purchased one out of curiosity and when I tried it, it sounded like a squeling pig. The same sound that the pig made when I shot it with my 30-30.

Would any hog be attracted with that? That seems to be a trumphet call to go run for your lives (in pig speak).

Sounds like it might be a good way to attract a mountain lion looking for a wounded piglet for supper

No thanks!

A piglet distress call can and will call in sows, protective instincts.
A side note...electronic calls are illegal in CA.

Is there an exception for predators like coyotes and bobcats?

You can use an electronic caller on yotes, bobcats, crows and I think starlings. Who the heck hunts starlings?

Ive used a hog call w/ success. When one is stalking close to a group of hogs, I had made a little mistake by stepping on a twig so I made the feeding sound/grunt. Which made them a little more relaxed as they went back to feeding. Then it enable me to get even close. A few time I made the squealing sound in short burst which mimic them fighting amongst them selves. They would then wanna investigate the fight to see what all the commotion about. I would stun myself to see shat kind of reaction you would get from these critters. You gotta try all kinds of tactics to get close to your quarry. If you use the wrong pitch you'll see the results by reading their body postures. You'll later understand what to look for. But you 1st gotta find them.

I do and it is a blast. I highly recomend getting to know some local fruit orchard owners and get in before/at harvest. I shoot Cherry Orchards and when thoose flocks come in you could melt barrels if you could reload fast enough.
