FHL has a 6" barrel length minimum. At least that is what was posted at the shack the last time I was there.

Concealed carry in Ca is a joke. CC Licenses are issued by the local counties. You either need to be a cop, jeweler or loaded with cash to get one. Also the CC only works in the county you have the CC in.
Don't think so. In your county it is almost impossible, in some others it is quite easy. I have a friend in Orange county who is neither a cop, jeweler, or rich. It is also fairly easy in San Bernardino. And as far as I've read, one permit covers the state, but you can only be issued the CCW in the county you live or work in.

From an email I received from the DFG:
So long as you are not hunting deer, elk or antelope, you can carry a sidearm. If you are hunting only pigs for instance, you may carry any legal method and combine the methods. Your handgun will be required to be loaded with non-lead if in the condor range.

We have a winner. :smiley-mouse:

the real point here is you don't need to be packin while archery for pigs. I've killed a bunch and never needed one. the only time a pig came my way after shooting it was because I was on his escape trail and I stood up held my hands high and he turned and ran... and then flopped. some big boars will have attitudes but being charged is a rare event. besides it sounds as if your new the sport... you gotta find them first, thats not always that easy. good luck :pig-laughing:

As a correction on my earlier post....................it is illegal to carry a handgun in the backpack. When in a hunting area the handgun has to be out in the open in an exposed holster. NO CONCEALED HANDGUNS without a CCW.

That's not true either, It's legal to carry concealed while in the act of hunting or fishing. But if the area is incorporated or prohibited the gun has to be unloaded. Public road ways are prohibited areas. According to exemptions you legally carry concealed loaded while hunting in the forest but the moment you step foot on a fire road your in violation of carrying loaded weapon in a prohibited area.

I do a lot of reading on calguns.net especially in the 2nd amendment and politics section. There is a wealth of information and most topics are backed up with penal codes rather than here say.

Here are few posts that touch on this subject.
