Just got back from the first evening of a three day hog hunt with Carrisa Plains Outfitters. We spotted one hog just as it was getting dark, a good size bore about 200lbs but he slipped off into the thick brush before I could get a shot off. We spotted 30 does but that's not what I'm here for.

Back at it tomorrow morning before first light.

Seem like good folks and the bunkhouse they put me up in is nice, anyone out there ever hunted with this outfitter on the Twisselman Ranch?

Oink, oink!

As Chris always says "If you saw it why didn't you shoot it?"

Probably didn't get the shot off cause you were too busy figuring out how to deploy the damn bipod I made you use............at least you didn't have to worry about removing the scope caps you left up at Stevensons' creek.

Get in some boot time?

Go get em tomorrow.............Bro Don

Finaly found some pigs this evening, 10 in all but they were a mile off and we never could get on them. We plan on going after the same group in the morning.

Pictures, I want some pictures.

Seeing other game animals out there, how's the weather condition on the plain?

Tons of deer at the ranch, saw a herd of elk, antelope and of course the coyotes. Doves are thick and the quail population makes me feel great about the upcoming season. I'll post some pics after this mornings hunt. I don't have alot of pics because I hate to put my binos down for even a second for fear that I will miss my opportunity. Weather started off warm but has been getting cooler each day especialy on the top of the mountain in the morning. This is it, the last morning, my last chance!

Well the hunt is over and we just couldn't make it happen. Saw one more big bore this morning right at first light but by the time I shouldered my rifle he disappeared over a knoll never to be seen again. Other than not getting a hog I was very pleased with their operation. They were friendly, knowledgeable and worked hard to get me on pigs, the pigs just weren't in their usual patterns of hitting the barley fields but instead were staying up in the junipers high in the hills. They provide hunters with a comfortable bunk house to stay in with all the amenities which was a plus.

Just me and the guide mojostarma. They gave me a heads up before I booked it that it was going to be a difficult hunt and that the hogs just weren't in their regular pattern. But that was kind of appealing to me as I didn't just want a canned hunt where you pick and choose which hog you wanted to take. Ethan the guide did everything he could to put me on a pig it just wasn't in the cards!

This time of year you have a lot of acorns dropping. The pigs stay up in trees and it is a little tougher.
