Got back from Carrizo this weekend from rabbit hunting. Right outside camp there was 3 pigskins and it got me pretty motivated.  There were two old guys camping there and on the other side there was a older guy, his son-in-law and son. They told me that the two old guys know where the pigs are at. They go almost every month to get themselves a pig. I talked to them and got me pretty motivated. I had my pack ready for something like this. My dad and I took about a 3 mile hike into the Calientes and saw plenty of sign out there. It was hot as hell out there! Now that I know the "secret" spots. I'll be heading in there for sure to get me a pig. It was a hell of a hike in that heat!

I know how two of those skins got there. There are plenty of pigs out there, the problem is finding them off of the private land. Haven't had much luck getting on any of it. Like you said, it's a hell of a hike, but worth it in the long run.

Sounds like fun, Yotegetter!  Hope you get back out there and have some luck.

I was beginning to wonder if anyone was braving the heat to look for pork.  Between vacation and catching up with missed work, I'm still trying to find an opportunity to get out there.  And next month, B-zone archery begins and I'm planning to give it a go...

So it all comes down to living vicariously through you guys until I get another opp to get out and chase Porky.  Keep the stories coming!

I have to agree about the pigs at carrizo.i have been seeing them for almost 2 months now. They do tend to stay on private land but sometimes they do stray onto public.I did see  and hear 2 baby pigs get carried off by coyotes about 3 weeks ago. Those pigs sure can squeal loud when being attacked. 300 yds is a long shot for me so i did miss the yotes.this is a great site and i've been lurking for about 3 months now. Figured it's time to be able to really participate in everything going on here.

Welcome aboard, gnn!

I keep hearing about these Carrizo pigs.  Might be worth the long drive down to see about locating and removing one or two in the near future.

I know were there at. Got 4 out of there last year, Big ones too. I also know a group of guys who got 6 two hours last year. Finding them is hard, sometimes they are there sometimes there not. Sorry guys, but this is my group's secret spot. The only thing I can tell you is that the spot is in public land.

Hey speck. Whenever you wanna go let Me know I'll take ya. It's about an hour from My house. I have a pretty good idea where most people go there. Last time I went I had one run out in front of the truck. It was still dark & private property. But still tried to hit it lol. Ok though it was a big truck

Wavesfr,

Careful what you offer!  Might have to take you up on it!  :shades-smoke:

I do think it would be worth a trip after deer season is done.  I generally don't do anything but deer hunt until I've either filled my tags or the season runs out on me.
