I'm heading out the Carrizo plains this weekend for a hog hunt. Not asking for anyone to give away any spots or honey holes but if anyone can give me some good advice or pointers about the area since this is my first time hunting there I'd greatly appreciate it.

Share what you plan to do. Like what time are you getting there, what area are you going to first, are you going to hike or drive around? Put some effort in to your post and maybe you will get some feedeback. The old “I’m not looking for the honey hole” is lazy.

^^^^Hahahahah

Sorry Sunshine, people have been seeing these types of posts for years and years. So close to big people populations that no one is going to give stuff up. Spots so close to town(s) get rail roaded bad.

Consider yourself 10 years down the road ….you get local pigs dialed in, are you going to give it up?

Please take no offense friend, it’s just how it is.

Lol no offense taken, I actually got back from the plains. I did find plenty of pig sign and saw a few hogs. Didn’t get one but going back next weekend to give it another shot. Thanks anyway

How does the cold and rain effect hog hunting? I have a trip planned next week in the PR area and wondering if I should put it off.

My favorite time to hunt hogs is when it’s cold and rainy. The hogs love it, they come out early looking for food. I carry a microfiber cloth to keep my scope dry and to clean the lenses.

I hunted hogs under all conditions too, when it was super windy, foggy, rain downpours, frigid and super hot temps And full moons…
If the rain isn’t to crazy they will come out and feed and move around here and there and cold really isn’t that big a deal For them.
I like bow hunting in the rain, great scent control and soft quiet ground which isn’t common in hot crunchy ground Cali.…lol have some good rain gear, I just waterproof everything possible.
and the most important thing is not to pass up any opportunities to hunt pigs. Good luck and don’t forget your tags…tra

True. These hogs sighting are better during the cold and rain. But access to the lands could be treacherous. I wouldn't be wanna get stuck out in the mud where I go hunting for hogs
