My brother-In-Law and myself went to Cedar Canyon this weekend. It was both of our first times ever paying for any type of private/guided hunt and it was all worth it. We were the only two hunters their this weekend. We got out Friday at about 3:30 and hiked up and around to the top of the property. Needless to say, 5500 feet is alot different than 500-100 foot elevation for hiking. Around 4:30 we saw two huge 200+ boars run right infront of us but never could get a shot on them. Thirty minutes later I saw a boar 220 yards out across a revine. I took the shot and dropped her. Initially I thought it was the same hog, but it wasn't. A little 100 lb sow. I was still happy with it though. Saturday we went out in the AM. It was raining and snowing the majority of the morning. It is pretty awesome to be able to hunt boar 2 hours north of LA in snow. Around 11 AM the owner of the ranch called us on the radio and their were three nice hogs coming our way. My brother-in-law got a good 100 yard standing shot on the 150 lb hog and the rest is history. Bill and the Cedar canyon crew had all of our meat processed and packaged by 3:30. It is a great ranch and great people. I strongly suggest it to anyone looking for some good boar hunting. I don't know what other private ranch hunts are like, but this one is not given to you on a spoon. If you like getting out their and doing it yourself, you do. And if you cant get anything by Saturday, they will bring out the dogs and give you a second set of eyes on the ranch. Great set up and 1st class people. First two pictures are where I took the shot from and the hog (It was dark by the time we got back, hense lack of pictures). Rest are my brother-in-law. Once again I want to thank the Cedar Canyon crew, they are a great outfitt and very nice people
