Big kudos to anyone who can guess where I saw these guys hanging out.

Ireland.

I was there a few weeks ago and toured a re-created Bronze Age Celtic settlement out in western County Clare. These girls, and about 10 more of them, are being raised in a enclosure there to show the types of game that were available to hunters back then. There was also a flock of sheep from ancient strains that shed their wool, rather than having to be sheared, and a skull and rack from the extinct Irish Elk. Very cool stuff.

Too bad hunting there now is limited to the wealthy gentry and bowhunting is strictly illegal. Gorgeous place though.

Someone should cut a hole in that enclosure, and free them piggies!

I think I would be afraid to go up against these guys with a bow. Hell, even a rifle. Arm me with a couple of grenades and maybe!!!!!

I hear ya Surfswest.

You should have seen the way these bruisers knocked around those huge rocks rooting for their grubs. And these were just the sows. Apparently the boars are too surly to have inside the enclosure.

Amazingly enough, the common way to bag these guys back then was with a spear! There was a good reason why the Celts enjoyed a long, illustrious reign.
