Look like the message board of Ventanna Wilderness has started some talk about California's most popular big game animal.

Thanks for the link Loye! Getting those guys to do our scouting for us is a great idea! I need to take some more time off from work now....

Interesting. Seems that they may have mellowed a little now. I used to read that list, but never posted because of the overwhelming anti-hunting sentiment.

Kinda cool that they recognize the need for ecological balance, and so now support killing the critters. Just don't mention deer hunting on that list!

Pigs are pretty large. They're scary even to humans. I'm far more worried about encountering a herd of tusked pigs than a lone mountain lion.

All he's got to do now is take a weapon and some pigs tags with him, and he'll never see them again, let alone a lion! No more worries

Awww, man - we're out of luck.
Some guy on there says we can't shoot a firearm within a mile of a trail or road, and to report anyone that does to the rangers...

How many roads criss-cross the place? Sounds like an easy one to me.

Is the trail an offical one or a adhoc trail?
