Chopper's ranch sure is beautiful. The view from the "cabin" is great, too. Now I just need to find the time to learn to shoot a bow....

Arrowslinger,

Congrats!! Thanks for grillin' up those tenderloins, they were awesome!!

Chopper has an awesome property with tons of game on it. Jesse (as in Jesses') and I hunted a bit together. One evenin' just past dark we saw a herd of hogs. Jesse thought he saw something and said shine your light a little left and as we moved left this BIG ball of fur started crossing the road. There were no less than 6 and probably more like 8 hogs from what I would guess 200lbs to 70 or 80lbs bunched so tight they each had their noses up in the others A@#e$$. If the front one would have farted the others would have tasted yesterdays dinner. So Jesse and I decide to head back there the next morning and as soon as we get out of the truck yote starts freakin' out and probably scared those hogs in to the next county. Dang it!!

I sure learned a lot about turkeys hangin out with Jesse. There were so many turkeys you couldn't help from talkin' about them. Thanks too for the stories while driving to and fro the hunting fields.

Let's do it again.

I think Speckmisser said it all, well done again Spec you sure have a way with words.

I would like to thank Chopper for the hospitality and all his help in putting me in one of the best places I have ever seen.

On our first morning we saw a huge hog just across the draw from us, but that hog had some place to be other than where we were. On Saturday I seen deer, rabbits, quail, turkeys, coyotes, squirrels, RAT, and heard pigs but they were too deep in the brush.
Sunday I learned the layout of the piece of property I was hunting I think I can walk it in my sleep now, and just as dark was falling copperjohn and I found where they were bedding down and from the sound of the grunt I knew I did not what to go into the thicket after him right at dark.
Otherwise I had a great time meeting all of you and until next time may your arrows fly true,
As for Arrowslinger great job and thank you for the fresh loin dinner and lookout for those monkey smugglers.
Oh yea
Chris we definitely need to get you a muffler before the next hunt!!

Once again thanks to Chopper for a first class ranch and hunt and a view second to none.

That ground squirrel is a toad!!!

I'd be shaking too bad to draw on that monster..

As for that picture of Chopper propped up on your truck...Just tell the truth, he was looking for the tow-truck to yank you out of another jam.

I have to second to what has been said.

I hunted with Arrowslinger saturday morning where he stuck his pig. Morning hunts in that spot were not to productive. But, after finding his hog, I decided to hunt the spot that evening. I set up in the same stand Arrow slinger was in the previous evening. My heart nearly thumped out of my chest when I heard a commotion near a ridge where Arrowslinger said his hogs came from. Turned out to be cattle...damn cattle
<
they always seem to be raising false hopes...after settling down, about 10 minutes, I note two hogs making their way toward me from the area arrowslinger said they would come from. At about 30 yards just over a small rise, I see their ears bouncing along, unfortunately they verred away from me and into the chemise. I was able to follow them with my eyes through the brush hoping they would comem ou tthe other side towards the pond where Dave(Bighorn) would get a chance to whack em. They never came out.

Choppers place was awesome. Chopper, it was great meeting you, Ron and Skeeter, and the wife. You were a great host and I look forward to coming out again for another visit. Next time I plan to use your cooler.

Nice seeing you guys again from last spring turkey. It was good meeting you fellow Norcal hunters...Arrowslinger, Pigig, Copperjohn. We need to hook up again soon.

Count me in for another hunt.

Hey Rancho,

I can proudly say Chopper did NOT have to send a recovery vehicle after the tactical vehicle on this trip. Heck, I don't think I even spun tires the whole time! Someone else was trying to take away the title of Roadmisser, however... but I'll leave that tale for those who were there.
<

Mel, it was first blood for the recurve. She's lost her virginity.
<

I took the blooded arrow and put a broadhead on it for the rest of the hunt, but that hillbilly voodoo wasn't working for me.

Yeah, rummor has it that two guys put their car in the ditch......i offered to pull'em out with the dodge intrepid, but didn't have my tow strap with me. I still think spec should get that squirrel mounted.

Ok lets try and clear this up, there i am coming back form 90 mile hike all I want is to have a smoke, I come around the bend in the road to find the truck gone
<
. The first thing I do is look into the bottom of the ravine to see if the truck some how ended up there but no it was not there
<
. I had a conversation with copperjohn about 1 1/2 hours earlier about a pig right next to me.
He got back to the truck before me and could not get me on the radio so he thought I may be in the bottom of the canyon tracking the pig so he decided to drive over to where I was and help out, but on the way over he was passing a pond and was looking for activity around it when his right front wheel droped into a erosion rut about 3 feet deep.
I guess after he tried to get someone on the radio he started jacking and filling the rut with what ever he could find. To make a long story short chopper finally found him but he already got him self out and thats when I can around the corner to my relief seen chopper and him standing there talking so after a beer
<
we were all on our way.
as for the pig i got a 3/4 draw on him and he headed for the next county!!

Oh man, what a good time. Sorry im a bit late to join the thread.

Not sure about you guys but I've found myself walking around the office the past three days daydreaming about Chopper's ranch. I keep seeing an image of a rather large, black blob surrounded by lush green. Chopper, you really have something special out there, thank you for your sharing it. I learned a ton on the hunt.
It was a real pleasure meeting each of you. Its reassuring to know there are still some real people around. Im looking forward to meeting up for another hunt real soon.
Oh another thanks is inline- Pigig gracias for stickin' up for me ;) I wish I had a camera; you guys would have gotten a real kick out of my dilemma. Luckily it all worked out easily. I dont think I would have been so bold in testing my ingenuity with out knowing chopper was en route just a few miles away.

Well guys back to the grind.

'Till next time....

Cheers,

Jason

It was fun up at Chopper's Eagle's nest on the top of the mountain. The cabin isn't a cabin really, it's more a chateau with plenty of room to spread out and what a view to watch the sun set over Monterey.

I hunted with Mike Orso both days and we came close but no cigar. Plenty of turkeys walking around and gobblin to keep me distracted.

I finally got to meet Mike and some other members. The stories while eating dinner and sitting on the porch were worth the trip alone.

THank you Chopper, Ron and Skeeter. You were a great hosts and I look forward to coming up again for another hunt.
