I always wondered what happened to gut piles after field dressing, so I set up a trail cam on the pile from the big hog I shot on President's day. Pretty interesting to see what ensues, with a variety of critters coming over for a snack. Interesting to see the Golden Eagles up close, love how the big boar pees on his old rival, and I'm surprised that no coyotes came.

Ahha!!!....this video proves it! Thanks bisonic. I once had a little debate with a couple other guys on another forum about hogs eating other hog's gutpile. This video shows exactly the point I made. They eat only the bugs that came to feed on the gutpile not the gutpile itself. The other guys disagreed and said they eat gutpile of their own kind.

Nice video bisonic, and thanks again.

Gunfighter - yep, private.

I edited out a lot of other video clips to just show the interesting ones. Most of them were of the eagles (which was pretty cool), several more were of pigs. though none were feeding off the pile. As I'd mentioned, none were of coyotes despite plenty of them on the property. Sometimes the gut piles disappear within a week, other times (like this) it takes a long time for them to go away. After two weeks this pile really reeks so I hope it disappears soon as I use the same spot for dressing/skinning.

Where I hunt you can hear the coyotes in the bushes while you're still gutting the hogs.

Very nice video, the sounds too.
I found myself wishing for the Eagles to vocalize.

I don't know much about the Trail Cameras but I found that something fuzzy over the microphone really helps lower the boomy wind noises.
These folks have some good prices, with a big variety of sizes & pieces. They even custom made me a fuzzy once:
