CO cow tags

Can you buy over the counter cow elk tags in CO.? If so, what are the dates? I am looking at taking my 13 yr. old son. I need the dates though as he will not miss school (even to hunt) and can go when he is off track. Thanks all!

They will be sold OTC in a few area's, but there is a 2,000 tag cap on them. The hunts will also be during the regular seasons

You can get archery cow tags over the counter for the Sept. hunt.

How would I get the OTC tags? Do they sell them the day the season opens? Are they sold at the DFG office? I would hate to drive all that way and not get one? Seems like they do the right thing for jr. hunters with it only costing $100 if I remember right.

You can start buying OTC Tags on July 15th. Bull Tags can be bought at Wal-Mart and I think (not sure) that the Cow tags are as well, there is just a quota on them.
Jr Hunters are $100 or $10 for the poor folks that live here like me (thank God).
