Just curious if anyone has any info on this area for hogs. I was thinking of giving it a try here in the next few weeks.

Thanks for your help.

Lots of guides have hunt property around coalinga, and a member of my archery clubs friend got a hog there last year, not sure if it was on private or public land. Seems like I remember at least one guide from there that assured sucess. Look on this site for guides and phone#'s.

Good luck, we got skunked near Parkfield last week, in a few weeks should be better

I've seen this property mentioned before. Plus I've actually been on it. (for a very short time)

I haven't been able to hunt it seriously, but I'd imagine that there are some good spots there.

You have to get back onto the more remote locations of the property though. (That's true for any public spot though.)

I'm sure someone will sound off with some details.

Mel,

I haven't been back there this year since first of February, but there wasn't much happening when I was there. You can hump it way back into the back country and hope to find something, but odds are slim.

There are some beautiful private lands nearby, loaded with barley, water, and cover, and the hogs seldom seem to come off of the place. I've been hunting quail and hogs there for a few years, and the quail are hit or miss... the hogs have been REAL rare.

Your best bet is to go on past the Mineral Springs and head over to Laguna Mountain. You'll still have to work your butt off, but the odds are a lot better at Laguna.

Drop me an email, and I can probably make a few suggestions.

heres the scoop on the mineral springs. We hunt about ten miles form there. Right now since our barley isn't up yet and there is food and water everywhere hogs are spread out everywhere, so if you are going to hunt the area now is the time to do so, yet your chances are going to be slim and also very tough.( Possible, not probable.)
