Columbia Sportswear's sport optics collection on display at 2008 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market
8/5/08
Columbia Sportswear Company's collection of optics products for outdoor enthusiasts will be unveiled during the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2008, which will take place August 8-11 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Participants can see the company's collection of rugged, high-performance binoculars, spotting scopes and monoculars at Booth # ESA508.
Columbia Sportswear entered into a licensing agreement last year with optics provider Kruger Optical, LLC to design and manufacture sport optics products, with the first products introduced in 2008. The Outdoor Retailer show will be the first opportunity for the general public to see and handle the company's outdoor recreation products.
"It is an honor and a great opportunity for Kruger Optical to exhibit for the first time at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market," said Janette Palmer, Kruger Optical's sales and marketing manager. "This is the place to get Columbia branded optics into the hands of users and influencers who will put them to the test."
Participants will be able to try out products from a variety of Columbia Sportswear product families, with prices ranging from $99 up to $400.
Top-of-the-line Malheur Series binoculars and spotting scopes were developed for bird-watching, but they are also an excellent choice for any outdoor user seeking an exceptional viewing experience. Malheur binoculars and spotters are rugged, elegant and contain the highest quality optics. Fluorite lenses, broadband antireflection coatings, and phase-coated, silver enhanced prisms provide excellent light transmission and color accuracy. Products are argon-filled for exceptional protection from moisture and fogging, and they contain many extra features. H2C™ coatings on external lenses repel moisture and protect against scratches (patent pending).
The Backcountry Series was designed for wilderness users. These tough, high-performance binoculars and spotters contain features such as broadband antireflection coated optics and phase-coated, silver enhanced prisms. Backcountry binoculars, available in a variety of sizes, include an internal center focus system, with excellent close focus capability. All Backcountry products are waterproof and argon-filled for the best possible protection from fogging. H2C™ coatings on external lenses repel moisture and protect against scratches (patent pending).
The Bonehead 7x50 binoculars were developed for boaters and anglers. These rugged, waterproof binoculars have large objective lenses and long eye relief for easy use in rough conditions. The Bonehead's case has a versatile Velcro mounting system for mounting to a boat's dash or other surface.
Timberline Series binoculars are designed for outdoor users who want excellent features for a value price. These tough, attractive binoculars contain fully multicoated optics and BAK-4 prisms for excellent light transmission. Binoculars are waterproof, fogproof and shockproof. Textured rubber armor and a large, ribbed center focus wheel make binoculars easy to use in any weather.
Companion Series binoculars and monoculars are compact, lightweight, value-priced products. These products, with multicoated optics, perform well but are small enough to slip into a pocket.
Most products in the collection include such extras as a protective molded case to protect products from shocks and scratches, and a COOLNECK™ breathable strap for optimum all-weather comfort.
"We would encourage anyone who is interested in outdoor optics to stop by our booth," Palmer said. "These products are just beautiful, and they are a great value, with features that you really don't see in these price ranges. Once people get a chance to see and use these products, we think there is going to be a lot of excitement about them."
