Rumor has it that J and Troy both got hogs with archery equipment over the weekend. We are waiting to see the pictures and hear the stories!

LD, if you FedEx it, I'll have it tomorrow.

Or are you looking to drive it back down, and maybe squeeze in another hunt?

Well guys all I can say is finally all the stars aligned and the result was very surprising. I’m still sitting in my office wondering what I did to actually deserve this trophy. Chopper, thank you for your encouragement, knowledge, and 5 star accommodations. To all you JHO guys especially Pigig, ArrowSlinger, Lurediver, Bubba, YoungBlood & Orso thanks for the ball breaking and keeping me around so long with the goose egg ;) PS- PIGIG saw the head last night, this isnt the trophy he is going after... there still is a bigger one out there(probably multiple bigger ones from the looks of the tracks all over Choppers ranch).

Thanks again guys for the support and camaraderie each one of you guys are responsible for making this happen!

Pics & Captions to follow.

Let me guess, Pigig's pig is bigger than this one?

I was still hunting down the road with lots of fresh sign. There were so many tracks all over it was impossible to guess the number of pigs working the area. Creeping along I noticed a bedded hog. I saw the outline of its back and an ear sticking up. I almost walked right by it. I had to focus on it for a minute and luckly the exposed ear flickered.. my blood pressure went high. I decided to let an arrow fly before this one got away. I realeased and the hog bucked up and went down the canyon in the background. I could clearly see the arrow protruding from its back.... I thought that was the last I had seen of this hog...

The picture below is from where I saw the bedded hog from the road. The red outline is where the beast was bedded.

I sat down for 20 minutes to avoid having cardiac arrest ;) I decided I better not push the animal so I walked up 100 yards and made my way down the canyon in the background. I hit a fence line and side hilled it to look for the escape route and possible broken arrow. I made it to just below where I believed I shot so I sat back down and listened for about 30 minutes.... nothing... I crept further down the fence line... no arrow no tracks.... I figured to hog had side hilled so I went back to the top of ridge.. and there it was...

On the way back to choppers we spotted a nice hog. Troy stalked in and we had a 2nd hog in the truck 15 minutes later. This one will be good eatin'.

Great shot placement on that second pig. It's amazing how little penetration you can get sometimes even on those smaller ones. Sounds like an awesome day at Choppers!!! Congrats to both of you.
