Well, I've heard about Choppers for a couple years, but this is my first year bow hunting... so I haven't been interested before... Looks like I will have to check it out in 2006!!!

Are there JHO regulars up there? Does JHO do a Choppers-Pig-O-Rama like Tejon?

Ozstriker22,

If you are in San Diego, talk to Bob Fromme at Performance Archery. He has 4 dates booked over the next 4 months and is signing guys up at his shop. I think he has some openings left. I am booked solid thru the middle of June.

GYOPO-
Jason's hog went about 40 yards. I don't remember what type of broadhead he used, but it was fixed w/ 3 blades. He got them from Pigig.

The lil' one I shot was from 8 yards away and he was stopped in his tracks. I use a Tekken II 125 grain. They are amazing. The arrow sticking out of him is one I just got before the hunt. I still had some of my old arrows in my quiver. I had 2 other new ones, but you can't see them in that pict but one is sticking out the other side of him and the 3rd one was a pass-through. I'm wiping the blood off and sharpening the broadheads right now.

Ozzstriker22-
You have to get up to Chopper's ranch. I'm also new to bowhunting and have only went 2 times and scored both times. JHO'ers are there all the time, it's a great group of fellas to hunt, eat and drink with in an amazing setting. You'll never forget it....unless you drink a lil' too much Crown & Coke.

I had some of the tenderloins last night in a Jamaican jerk marinade and they were AWESOME. Can't wait to tear into some more of it.

Hey J,

I don't know if you are a member of California Bowmen Hunters or not, but that hog would easily make the CBH record book. Do you know anyone who is certified to measure for CBH?

I'm sure Backcountry would love to but in the event he cannot, I would be happy too, it's not that far of a drive.

The head needs to be very clean though to score it. The teeth are scored from what is visable if the teech do not come out. Since about 2/3 of the tooth is still in the jaw bone the score will be much higher if the lowers can be removed. It will be pretty high in the CBH books if it can be scored with the teeth out. The boar I got at choppers scored about #129 (even though I haven't entered it yet) as of the the last book printing and the score I got during the class. This hog has much bigger teeth than mine!

Thanks again guys. I would love to see how this scores. Gyopo, after releasing at the bedded hog it jumped up and ran about 35 yards. When it ran away I saw how poor the shot was so I backed out of the area for about an hour so my guess it bedded back down and relaxed. I think this was key to retrieving this one. I was quite surprised to see the hog so close area I shot at him. When we gutted him there was clearly high blood loss... deep red blood... I think I clipped a good portion of its liver.

PIGIG what was the name of the broad heads you gave to me last year?
