It's not exactly a cow camp in the cowboy sense of things, but I have a cow tag for the Price, UT area this year. I am looking forward to getting out there soon. I guess there are about as many petroglypyhs as there are elk in this nook of Utah that I'll be hunting in about a month from now. If I get board of looking for elk, I can stare at some petroglyphs or enjoy a whisky & the campfire....maybe some real good steaks too.

Leaving tomorrow for Colorado, we pulled cow tags and just points on our deer. It is going to be a great trip, first out state for my youngest son and my buddy who turned 50 this year has always wanted to hunt elk. I used to live in Colorado so my buddy is taking us out, things have really changed since I lived there so I am happy to get the current local inside track. Also going to get some chucker hunting in and some fishing. Good luck.

Sounds like a real fun trip. Good luck! I think I had better bring along my shotgun too. There may be some decent chucker & grouse hunting. Also, possibility of some ducks on a pond or two.

I shot a cow Monday on the National Elk Refuge hunt and today my buddy shot a cow up Porcupine Creek. Not bad for 2 morning hunts and 2 elk down. Meat for the winter. Get a little snow and the elk start coming down the mountains! Good luck chasing the ladies!

Good for you.. Hope not to have too hard a time finding the girls. I was up at Fish Lake last month for the bull hunt. Was your muzzleloader tag filled on Fishlake? I have not seen many big deer up there for some time now. Did see a couple nice ones on the Thousnad Lakes side.

Cant wait another month and a half both the girlfriend and myself drew cow tags (got really lucky applying on seperate tags with no points!!!) and to add gravy we have a several thousand acre ranch to hunt. Should be good we only have a half hour drive but we may camp for a few days and there is always a few chuckar, ducks, quail and geese running around

Yes, that's some nice country over in the Fish Lake NF area for sure. The grasses were twice as tall as the last two summers in the high country. Those elk will be especially good eating this year. There are a couple ag fields I can hunt on with my cow tag along with a lot public. I still have a few weeks to go...could be downright chilly but will make for a good hunt I think...most of the elk will be down low.

Took another cow today, filled out my last tag, we had just a touch of blowing snow and that did the trick, everyone else was asleep in bed, and I decided to go out. the worse the weather the better the hunting. Go get'em

I bought a landowner voucher for a ranch north of SLC. I'll be up there at the end of December into the first week of January. It's any weapon, so I'll try my bow first and take the rifle just in case. If enough people come with me, the vouchers are $500 each. The tag is an additional $213. Lodging is DIY. 2500 acres of private, non-fenced land. Any takers?

I drew for a general deer last year and hunted west of Junction, Utah. I shot a nice 4x4. I was one of very few people that even seen deer. I was also one of few that got out and hiked. There were four or five bucks with the one I shot. When I was younger, by dad and his buddies used to hunt up off Last Chance Rd off the 72. From back in the 80's till now, I could see the major drop in deer herds out there. What a shame, I love going there. Three more weeks till I go back for the cow.
