I had 2 cameras up on this piece of property this past summer.
Although it is not 100% guaranteed that this is the same cow I got a pic of, how do you tell anyways eh ? I thought I would post it.
This old girl was about 600 lbs on the hoof. A pretty easy shot with my 7mm Rem Mag at only 75 yds. She came right up to me as I was posting on the corner of this field, and I was tucked in the bush about 5 yds. This is the same spot my 15 yr old son took a cow elk off of a year ago. These special draws are about 4 yrs appart between tags in out draw system. Get them when you can I guess.

That's lots of backstraps there. Thanks for sharing the pics. Would love to get an ELK tag here in Michigan but our tags are like hitting the Lotto. 150 per year. You only get picked one time per lifetime. Will have to make that western trip some day soon.

MIbuckdropper: Yea, that is a dream here. But, a little off subject. Congrats on the Pasadena trip as a result of State's gift to you guys a couple weeks ago.

Nice going that will keep you in steaks for a while. Now you just need to find a way to get it into the truck.

Nice before and after shots.

Hey Chuck,
It was pretty easy to get her in the truck.
We had to drag her a few 100 yards 'til we found a bit of a wash / dip in the field, and the back end of the truck went in so the tail gate was only a foot off of the ground. Then the 2 of us wrestled her in.

I don't want to bragg about shot placement. but we had to track last years elk that was shot in almost the same spot on this field, that one was shot in high the ribs by my 15 yr old son, so when this girl was coming at me, with 5 other cows following, I let her keep on coming. If you see in the pic, where the fingers of my right hand, the grey glove. the entry was at the base of her snout, in front of the eye on her right side, and the exit on her left side is the small dark spot behind her eye in front of her ear.
She fell and was toast instantly. I got her at about 80 yards with my 7 mm Rem Mag, 160 gr.
