Pigs can't regulate their body temps that well, esp for heat, thus don't move much when it's hot and also wallow in mud to keep cool. With that said, daytime temps now aren't high enough to keep them bedded down. On Monday there was a big sounder of sows and piglets moving around on my place in Lake Co at 10:30 in the morning, and from what I've seen on game cams plenty of other movement during the day. With that said, there's nothing like the first and last hour of the day. Cold doesn't really seem to bother them much. I got one a couple weeks ago just before sunrise with the temp at 27 degrees. If anything, I think they move around more when it's cold to keep warm and to eat more to provide energy.
Long and short, mornings and evenings are by far best, but this time of the year till it dries up (April/May on my place depending on the weather) you might run into them at any time.
