I got lucky and drew another cow tag for the second year in a row down in SE UT--draw odds are a little easier than the Manti/Nebo areas but tougher to get into the elk. It should be more meat for the freezer like last year.

I was going to buy a cow tag if I didn't draw one just to take the pressure off feeling I need to fill my LE tag in Wyo.

I've got a line or two on cow tags here...prices vary a bit on where tho...I'm hoping to buy one from the family that did my retaining wall and combine it with a goose/duck trip...no one in that valley hunts waterfowl so it should make for a productive hunt....they sure pull some nice bucks out of there tho...all private dang it.

I'll be going to Wyoming's area 6 for a cow this year. My brother and law and I are combining it with a late season doe antelope hunt for a freezing filling expedition.

I'm going either-sex archery in CO in September. It's an OTC tag, and I should be in a good area. I'll take the first reasonable elk that comes across...antlers or no. Running out of room in the garage for horns, but there's plenty of space in my freezers.

My family always get the late season Dec. Cow hunt tags in CO. Great success and fun.

Besides my Cow tag in CO, a buddy of mine (that has never hunted big game) drew a Cow tag at Hunter Liggett in November. He wants a couple of us to go along as he doesn't know what to do after he kills it. He drew a military tag and said that the only thing he knows how to do after killing something is to kick the weapon away and search his pockets. I guess that is the twisted humor he learned in Iraq.

Looking forward to the Hunter Liggett hunt, should be a fun time.

My buddy drew the Carrizno Plain 2nd period antlerless hunt. He has never hunted elk before, so a couple of us will be going with him to help out. I will be carrying my Leice spotting scope and Geovids (range finder / binocular combo) to help him get dialed in. Shoudl be a great hunt and I'm just happy to be tagging along.

By the way, the same group of us will all be going on my G3 deer hunt in December. I am the only one with a tag though. It is nice to have the extra eyes for glassing and the extra muscle for packing out whatever you get.
