He has been in touch with trappers to see if the pigs can be humanely trapped and released in the western part of the county.

So, they just want to transplant their problem on someone else's property? Isn't there already too many pig everywhere in Florida? More touchy feely warm fuzzes to keep the PETA folks at bay.

“The sheer fact is that the number of pigs is increasing. They’re losing their predators and they reproduce so abundantly that they’re bound to keep causing problems.”

Ah, no, they're not "loosing their predators". Their predators (hunters) are not being allowed to prey on them. Geeze, they should just close the course a couple days a week and charge hunters "green fees" to go out there and hunt them, even if its just restricted to archery equipment. I'm betting, due to the harvest and the hunting pressure, their problem would soon be gone and they'd even make a few bucks off the deal.

And think about what they could do if they got a depredation permit; They wouldn't even have to close the greens.

there is a golf course in montana (or wyoming) that allows archery hunting for pronghorns. you have to be off before the 8:00 am tee-time. i saw a show on the place. after the show aired, they got book for several years for the hunting alone. i think they let people hunt the goats for free. i bet one or two seasons of shooting at the hogs, they would leave.
