Hey everybody,

I'm taking my wife & sons (5 years old) to the Mammoth area next week. I wanted to take them out to Crowley to dunk some bait for awhile. I haven't fished Crowley from the shore in over 20 years. I was planning to go out around Sandy Point. Question, can you give me directions to get out there? We used to take the dirt roads from Benton Road Crossing to get in but I haven't the foggiest which road to take now. Also, what's the condition of the roads? Last thing I need to do is get stuck out there with my family. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Take Benton about 3/4 mile, just past the football field and make a right (it's the only good dirt road). Follow it down a bit and when you get to the "Y" stay right (if you go left you will end up in Greenbanks) go to the shore of McGee (Stormy Flats) and turn left and follow the shoreline to Sandy Point.

If you plan to shore fish, North Landing (between Greenbanks and Sandy) may be a better bet. In that case take a left at the "Y". You may want to drive it durring the day.

Hogskin, we fished that area for the opener and did very well. It was unusual but we had a all day bite all three days we were there. Inflated crawlers dipped in garlic juice and any powerbait coated with Berkley trout sauce did the trick. Juicing the bait did make a noticable difference. There were quite a few holdover fish in the 20" range. Good luck.

Yeah thats it! That right turn on Benton Crossing Rd. is right after Whitmore Pool. Unless the county has graded the road lately, it has some good chatters which will dump everything out of your trailer or spill any open container.

From all reports, the fishing has been awesome.

O'yeah- Bring your camara, the deer migration is in full force. You should be able to get a peek at 100's in the flats behind Green Banks. We had Little League opening day last weekend @ Whitmore fields. It was hard to watch the kids, as group after group of muleys were crossing the road right next to all the cars, & heading up Doe Ridge.
