A few weeks ago I posted a couple of videos that caught a cute little brown and white piglet crossing a ridge on "hog highway" with it's extended family. Today I found a few more videos showing the same piglet more than a month later - he's gettin' bigger! Interesting that this herd of hogs has hung around for so long and I sure hope to see his distinctive coloring in my sights when he's all grown up!

Dang! They grow fast. Don't know how you have the patience to hold out on hunting this Hog Highway.

Hog Highway is on the top of a ridge that they cross when they move between bedding areas to the west and a valley to the east where they feed. I've found it's a lot easier to hunt them while they feed rather than wait for them to cross as I'm not that patient and would have to be lucky to time it right. As the videos show and I've seen personally a few times, when they cross that point they're usually moving pretty fast.

One time I was quail hunting on the road right where the camera is pointing when two pigs popped out of the hole in the brushto the right no more than 10 feet from me. Not sure who was startled more, me or them. Don't think my 20 gauge quail loads would have done much even if I'd had time to react - I usually carry a 357 now when I bird hunt just in case.
