CWA event trains beginning hunters

The California Waterfowl Association has created a hunter skills clinic to introduce beginning hunters to the sport and tradition of hunting; the first session is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in Elk Grove.
Cost is $40 per person and includes lunch, materials, a CWA hat and a one-year membership in the organization. All interested hunters 10 years old and older are encouraged to attend. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Topics include guns and game, quick bird identification, shooting made simple, selecting a hunting dog, field gear and garb, accessing great habitat and more. For additional information, call (916) 648-1406 or visit http://www.calwaterfowl.org.
