Anyone else hunt d16? I have for years and find it rare to meet people who hunt that zone especially archery.
just curious what everyone else is seeing in the zone...

anyone have a good idea of when the Rut would be kicking up in d16? I think its still to hot for them to be active In the day, although my little secret spot sure has lots of does moving around.

thanks for your input!!

Not a whole lot of D16 talk goes on here. There are some other forums where there's more D16 hunters.
I've only been hunting D16 for about 5 years. Mostly all one area with the exception of a couple trips to different (more popular areas).
The deer activity has decreased and number of hunters has increased at our groups usual spot, none of us are hunting the general D16 tag this year.
I just got into archery but haven't done enough to scouting to new areas to really have any hope this year.

What up Man I have hunted D16 for about 5 years and been lucky the last 3 years nothing big but meat in the freezer. I have also experience
lots of areas that didn't have many hunters now there all over the place but that's just a matter of time before they find our next honey hole "LOL"

iupa1, thanks for your response
what general region do you hunt? I am not prying for yer spot but more just curious what else is out there.
I did 19 days archery around the palomar observatory area, in the clevleland forest. And the same area, about 18 days general season and the best I saw was a tiny spike... I was fortunate just by luck to have that much time up there to hunt that area. I wouldn't usual invest that much time into an area without seeing game. I saw plenty of does probably 60 in total Last year I smoked a nice 3 x 3 in the same area opening day around noon.

I hunt that are as well didn't see much this year I saw a spike and a few does. The issue this year was all the forestry people cleaning the forest up there all the game was pushed out. I also hunt the Indian flats area also was pretty dead.

I've hunted D116 for a couple of years and have seen what's a strong population of deer but nothing huge. Blew a couple stalks this year, O well it's always fun.

SoCal Hunting, I think SCH Outdoors is the actual name. There's quite a few San Diego hunters on there.

I have hunted D16 for about 5 years now. Have had 2 shot opportunities total, blew one of them. I kinda feel like the drought has pushed them out of some areas where water is now scarce. I'm sure it is that way across the entire state. Hopefully the ponds will be full this year and bring the deer back.
