The public land was crawling with them. If only I was so dedicated.

JK Actually we had the place all to ourselves.....as usual, and lucky for me, I didn't ruin anybody's rifle hunt. The only other person I saw was a hound hunter I passed on the road out of there as he was coming in, probably running foxes. Must have just been a coincidence that the only other person I saw was running dogs.
<
Anyway...This old bastard didn't have much for teeth left besides his uppers and cutters.....which were very fat and 4 inches long. He was old. I didn't really get very good pics 'cause there were more hogs to be caught but he certainly had some stumps for teeth. Just the way I like 'em.

Edited for a close-up pic instead.

Depends on where I'm going but I drive alot. Just like most any hunting on public land here in California....I always have to work for it. There wasn't much of any sign near the road, but a few miles into the rough stuff and it was swine central. This pic shows his teeth a little better but I really do need to get a new camera. I've had this one only a couple of months but it's just a point and shoot...and the pics suck unless there is bright sunlight and no flash. Just got this pup from a buddy of mine a few weeks ago and she's lookin good.

Nice tusks- I kinda gave up on using dogs for hogs although I used to hunt with friends in TX and they had black mouth Curs along with Cats. want to take some of our bear, coon, coyote dogs to Texas some day-I got back Mon from Ponotoc,TX and got 5 nice eaters and one Rio in 2 1/2 days of hunting.

Cole.. great pics.. You need to bring those dogs over to Texas and we can go chase them around for a while.. The offer still stands, over 30,000 acres of private land crawling with pigs.. My cousing went out Sunday and they got into them pretty thick.. He just got a new pup too and she is working out very well...

Nice, nice pig Bayed. Throw me an e-mail. I'd like to talk to you about this dog hunting so the whole world won't know how much of a dummy I am about dogs.

Not quite....but nothing too serious. The dogs come from all over. Most dog hunters breed their own dogs so between myself, my hunting partner, and all of the hog doggers we know, there is usually not a big shortage of pups.

TimJackson--Things are pretty booked up for me for a little while, but I'm really going to try and fit that one in sometime. I really appreciate the offer. When is the best time of year for you?

We can run them any time of the year other than mid-Sept. - Dec. for deer season.. Spring or late winter is best before it gets too damned hot.. Middle of the summer is hard on the dogs and the handlers....

Great hog. Very impressive. It will make a nice european mount. I've done quite a few hogs with my bugs, and very few would compare with that one. I maybe get 2-3 per year with that quality of teeth. Congrats. Without being too specific, what part of the state did you get them in?

I'm sure that guy could get us into the big boars. He's crazy that way. I could use a little change of scenery anyway. I figured that 14 or 15 years was old enough you wouldn't mind the licence plate but your buddy really seemed to think he had me in trouble.
