Well this was my last day of my 5 day shed hunt.

We found 14 between three of us. Met up with another shed hunter out there (super nice guy!) and he said that he had found 30 or so about a month before we got to this area, including some whoppers!

we still ended up getting 12 yesterday and 14 today!

My count for the year is at 101 now! Things are just heating up now that the snow just melted!

Question: Why is it that canada produces bigger whitetail antlers than anyone else. All the pictures on the web from canada sheds are rather large. I have found monster whitetail sheds up in montana but they are tiny compared to canada sheds. Is there not as much hunting pressure there?

Nice pics from days 3 4 and 5, you guys ned to find jobs and save some horns for us.

Well there are a few reasons why, and hunting pressure has something to do with it. But generally speaking deer get bigger the further north you go body and antler. This can be due to climate, nutrients in the soil, food availibility and qaulity, vast expanses of escape cover where a buck has a chance to make it big.

This doesn't occur right at the border crossing. I've seen some huge whitetails from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa that would put some "Canadian" deer to shame. I'm from Saskatchewan and there are areas here that generally produce larger animals than other places in the province. It all depends on the area.

Eventhough we do get some monsters up here, they are still elusive and most of the time you're lucky to see one.
