So I saw a dead cat (big kind) on my way to work today, should I call dfg or just leave it be to decompose? Never had to think about this before so figured I'd ask.

I'd call them, they can decide if they want to use it for data or let it "go back to nature".

I sent an email and I'm sure they have been notified as local sheriff is on scene now.

Another question sence dead cats are on my mind at the moment. I've heard pig and bear carcases are generally left alone by the scavengers, how bout cats? What'll eat a cat? If anything.

Shmave23, is it legal to have cat parts in CA? I thought guys were complaining they couldn't even shoot one (legally) out of state and bring it back.

Well had I not been on my way to work and standing on the side of a hwy it might have tempted me but showing up to work (about 2 miles from the carcass) with a lion head in the back of the truck and bloody hands might have required some explaining.

Maybe so, but if there are poachers working in your area, don't you think it might be in your best interest to contact someone, if only to secure your own safety in the woods?

I, being the statewide lion (and bear and pig) biologist, am interested in the location and condition of the cat.
