Wish i could be there. I usually hunt the north on the dec hunt. Be careful for the rest who dont have a side by side. In my opinion the only way to do it at Tejon have had way to many close call with the mud and the hill side made the ass pucker a few times. Good luck to whoever is going.

I talked to Maddie today should be a nice mess for everyone. I would go on the North side with this weather.

Good Luck and as soon as the road gets bad turn around.....it normally only gets worse.

Good luck on the roads look for pigs at the line were the snow stops.

And don't forget to take lots of pictures so we can all dream of the piggies on Tejon.

well guys sorry for the time lapse.....new kiddo in the household and he is a terror at only 8 weeks.....
The dec 11-13 POR was amazing to say the least, there were 43 hunters including myself, and we took 41 hogs by noon on sunday. The weather held and we had clouds most of the weekend, with the only rain coming in on sat night.
The roads were not as bad as you would have thought, but if you didnt have a UTV you werent getting to the snow level where most of the pigs were seen.
My group of 3 hunters saw well over 300 pigs....yes 300....I put my friends on 10 different groups of hogs and they finally were able to close the deal...after several misses...
I myself didnt come home with a hog as i was just helping the guys get theirs...One of our buddies who missed at least 15 shots....oops...is not doing so well, very sick with cancer and might not make it to the spring....so we took him out for one last hoo rah....
We saw well over 200 elk.. 2 giant 6x6 bulls that were well over 55" wide, mountain lion tracks, a bobcat, 2 bald eagles, a golden eagle, and more swine than you could count....
At noon on sunday, at the end of the hunt. We headed back to camp...almost there we came across a ravine that was at least 2 miles in length, from mountains to the orchards...and in this ravine was 4 groups of sows with babies 40+ in each group....about 5 minutes apart...we sat and watched as they went 5 yrds around our rangers to get the safety of the mountains....a very cool site to see at tejon...
Lots of acorns on the ground up high, but all the hogs are up in the snow, or close to it.
The big pig was a 213lb gutted hairy monster.....with lots of 150-180lbs in the mix...
41-43.....thats what i call a PIG O RAMA.....

Nice report. That is a great hunt. Sorry to hear about your buddy, terrible disease. The ranch is plugged with pigs, I am not surprised at all you saw 300+. Should be a good season at the ranch.

Great to hear the report...When did Tejon allow UTV's on the ranch? I haven't hunted the ranch in about 5 years and at that time UTV's or Quads were not allowed. I'm assuming they only allow UTV's (if it has a steering wheel) and No Quads are allowed. Can anyone clear this up? Thx

utv's only

They started allowing them last year for he spring access and as soon as i got the ok from them i went out and bought a polaris ranger xp....we have been everywhere allowed on that ranch....jeeps could have never navigated the snow drifted mud bogged roads we have encountered.we were drifting back and forth up thm roads..I would never hunt the ranch again without one....
