I haven't been there yet, but I think she's still running it. I'm booked with her next friday , I'll let you know how it goes unless you wanted to come the same day hah.
We were out over the Memorial Day weekend and scored two on Sunday 5/24. Two boars ranging between 135 and 110 (field dressed) . We caught them coming out of the barley in the morning. Nice place and nice people.
I saw the pic of your hogs. Nice work. I know it's tough to luck out in one day but it may be all I can get. Did you all just set and watch the barley?
We arrived Friday afternoon and was greeted by Deedy who gave us a tour of the leases and had and some suggestions on how to hunt them. Friday evening we hunted one of the areas with no luck. Saturday morning we decided to hunt the barley. We arrived at first light and based on the wind made our way along the property boundry to see if we could catch them coming out of the fields. We didn't see any that morning but decided to check the fields for fresh sign. The fields look like they were being hit, it was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. We also scouted the area from the Friday evening hunt and found some fresh tracks but decided we would concentrate on the barley for the evening and Sunday morning hunt. It was decided that we would get a little earlier start on Sunday morning. The wind was right and we slowly made our way along the fence line. We approach the slope that would bring us to the area with the most sign and as we crested we saw a black mass within the barley. It was definetly a hog. My buddy already had his sights on the hog and I gave him the ok to take it. He fires, the hog drops instantly and then all of a sudden another pig comes out of the field and proceeds to head directly at us. We both unload and drop the second. After making sure both hogs were down we made our way further up the field to see if any other hogs may be scurring about but after a hundred yards or so we decided two was good and we were done. Time to get to work.
Deedy's Resort accomodations were perfect. Nice cabins, skinning pole w/electric winch and large cooler for the hogs. Both areas we hunted were within a 10 minute drive from the cabins. Also, if you can find any copper bullets for the varmits she has plenty of them for you to dispose of during your down time!
I only have BMP copies of some pictures so maybe Deedy can post some additional ones we sent her of the fields and such. She might even have some trail cam to share.
Cool, What will you be driving? I'll either be in my superfast station wagon, or a 2001 Tacoma. Are you rifle or archery hunting? I'm bringing both, rifle for a little reassurance as I don't want to eat this tag before the season ends next month.
i'll be in a silver honda truck, rifle, bow and ml and the kithen sink. shoulder hurting but would like to take with the bow. come on by and have a drink. we have 3 in our party but only 2 hunting
