Going to be deer hunting the space base this next deer season for the first time. How has it been this past year? Looks like a hell of a lot of bucks been killed. Does the areas get a lot of pressure?. Excited to try it out. South A zone public is so crowded these days

Is this area public land, do you know? If I was a deer, I'd love being in that area, especially where it looks out over the pacific. As a kid, my friends and I would camp at Jalama, and do mischievous things along the cliffs/caves...Jalama is a great place to camp, if you can get a reservation, it was up to about a year, last I checked...could be more now...I don't know much about hunting in that area, but I have a tag for A zone. You know of Bear in that area? Pig? I'm going to check that out, I'm so confused over North/South A zone...cause South A zone goes all the way down to San Diego...seems unlikely they would allow a deer license to be purchased over the counter, in fact, I think North is not valid in South.

I think the answer is that Lompoc/Jalama is a part of Santa Barbara County, and that is a part of South A zone.

There's a gray area kind of split between Northern and Southern California with Central California. I have lived here all my life, and I am still confused.

PS - Sept 8th is the day you joined here, that's my b-day! ;)

I get it, and didn't want to allude to anything that others may not know.

Could be my first year there also, I currently only hunted a couple of years, have a pig and a deer in Lake County, and looking for more this year. I didn't hunt last year and only did one game each year, 2 years before that.

I really want a bear. I would say for me, it's the closest to beef, but more so, I want a rug to hang on the log home I'm building. I wouldn't put it past any of the CA politicians to sell off any of the public land in the desirable areas. Those are breathtaking views all along the coast and out over the Arroyo...I imagine they'll get more for that land than they would in Northern Idaho, where I'm looking to buy a piece of land... I want to be able to claim residency in Idaho, if nothing else.;)
