The shed in the middle had my 11 year old boy bouncing all day after he found it. It wasn't too many years ago when I sneakily help him find a few sheds when he first started. Now days he doesn't need help nor cuts the old man any slack so I can find the big one. Kids!!

We did have a pretty good day though and I even found some. Course I found more then him the next day so maybe he did cut me some slack.

That's a gorgeous shed there---you don't often see that kind of timne length all the way out. Might be a while before you can beat that one.....but ya never know. Tell the kid "way to go".

TJF-you can't blame the boy for getting excited over finding that shed, that shed is AWESOME!!
It looks like it's got some good mass to go with those long tines.Great find!!
I can relate to helping the kids out at finding the sheds. If I'd spot a shed I'd say "I smell a shed, look real good in here".The boy caught on to that fast and started getting lazy waiting on me to find one, so after awhile if I spotted a shed I wouldn't say a word.I'd say lets take a break and let the boy spot it on his own. He's starting to get wise to breaks now.
If we do find a shed I keep him on his toes by dropping the shed and letting him think he found another one.He gets mad once he realizes it's the same shed.He plays he's own little games by acting all excited and yelling he's found one.
There's nothing better then having the kids out there looking with you.I just hope if they start finding more then me they remember who taught them what they know.

Tyler found that one too but it isn't a spike. The buck must have snapped his antler off, right before the browtine, fighting last fall. Not much of a shed but since it was shed, we count it. :) It's the 3rd one we have found with one being broke off right after the browtine. Tyler found an antler that was broke off from a fighting buck this spring too. They might not be huge around here but they are scrappy as we also have found quite a few with broken tines.

TJF-spike or not your in trouble if he's finding little ones like that too.

Anything that's not attached to the skull is considered a shed in my book.I've been counting busted off points or pieces of an antler as a shed for years.
A couple years ago I found a old shed from the previous year with a busted off tine, 20yds.away I found the busted off tine. The two fit together perfect!! In that case I didn't count the busted off tine.
