Congrats on another great year Deershed!

I havn't been in a while and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get out too much more before it greens up. Oh well.

Thanks for the awesome pics and a great post!

Thanks Predator 1!!
A big Congrats to another great season for you too!! Some of those sheds you find are unbelievable.I wish I could just find a handful that would hold up next to yours.lol
I'm greedy,I'm still hoping to make at least another trip for elk sheds before calling it a year.
Have a good year!!

I made it back up-state 2 more times. My first trip was cut short so I made a second trip 2 days later.
My first trip I found another elk spike shed and my second trip yesterday an old chewed 4pt. WT shed. The elk shed had dried velvet still hanging on shed.I thought that was pretty neat.
I was really lucky this year finding 4 elk sheds and 3 WT sheds up-state Pa. The elk sheds weren't big,but any elk shed is a good find. And the WT sheds were my first in 3 years worth of looking up there.
With these last finds my season count is 4 elk sheds and 106 WT sheds for 110 sheds total. The exact number of sheds I found last year.lol
Here's a pic of the spike "as it layed".

Predator1-as a hardcore shedhunter yourself, you know it's out of my control about ending the season.lol
After making one more last trip for elk sheds my season is done now.Things are getting too green and the snakes are out.(rattlesnakes)
I was back in the same area where I found the old chewed WT shed and found my fifth elk shed of the year.
This shed was another 5pt. off a raghorn bull like two of the others I found earlier in the year.It was a bigger shed, but not off a older mature bull.Maybe next year I'll find one of those.
It was a great year for me upstate Pa. looking for elk sheds.Besides the 5 elk sheds-3 5pt. sides and 2 spike sheds,I also found 3 WT sheds. The WT sheds were the first ever found upstate in 3 years of looking.
Here's a couple pics.

The last WT shed found.

I like the one in the tree! Are the elk there natural or introduced? Is there a season?

Predator 1-I gave a little history of the Pa. elk on page 2.
The last of the native elk in Pa. were killed in the 1870's.The first elk were reintroduced by the Pa. Game Commission in 1913.
There's a real love/hate situation with the elk now and the damage and trouble they cause with the locals.
Every year since 2001 there's been a lottery hunt for residents and nonresidents alike.A $10.00 nonrefundable donation puts your name in the barrel. If you get drawn it will cost residents another $25.00 and $250.00 for nonresidents for the elk license.
I thought it was the second year the hunts were started the PGC started giving perference points.I've been donating from the beginning, but still no luck.
This years hunt will be for 40 elk like last years hunt,10 bulls and 30 cows.
I believe a couple of the earlier hunts more then 40 tags were issued.
Maybe one year I'll get drawn to hunt one til then I'll be more then happy to settle with finding sheds.
