An invasive weed called water hyacinth threatens to choke off portions of the San Joaquin Delta to boating. The Recreational Boaters of California (RBOC) has put the Delta weeds as a key piece of their agenda to represent boaters in the coming year. RBOC is pressing its wide membership to urge the politicians and bureaucrats to get off their duffs and fix the problem. “New California permit requests (must be approved by government) to enable action to abate the unprecedented infestation of water hyacinth in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta,” said Jerry Desmond, Jr. of RBOC.
